VOLUNTEER

The UCWF is a non-profit conservation organization and we are run entirely by volunteers; our members are the life-blood of this organization and we need your help.

You can volunteer many ways:

• Help with upland service projects.

• Install & maintain guzzlers and other water developments that help upland game.

• Help with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources annual Youth Upland Game Hunts.

• Become a board member.

• Help with our annual Banquet in February.

• Donate time, money, or supplies.

And if YOU have a project or idea, simply ask an officer or board member for help.

DEDICATED HUNTERS

Are you participating in the Dedicated Hunter program? Are you looking for meaningful projects to satisfy your required hours?

The Utah Chukar and Wildlife Foundation participates in many volunteer projects partnered with the UDWR, BLM, and Universities. The UDWR is a partner in all of the projects we are involved in. The following are approved projects that can be used for Dedicated Hunter hours.

Here are the approved projects for this year:

1.) Sharptailed grouse lek counts (Northern region) April-May

2.) Sage Grouse lek searches (Northern, Central, Southern Regions and may possibly add the Northeast Region) April-May

3.) Forest Grouse drumming/hoot counts (Northern, Central, with the possibility of expanding to other regions) April-May

4.) Sage Grouse Flush Counts (Southern, Northern Regions, and Anthro Mountains) July-August

5.) Guzzler Maintenance - Volunteers maintain a number of big game guzzlers on BLM land (Central, Northern regions) May-November

6.) Guzzler Installations - We help install new guzzlers (Central, Northern Regions, and will potentially expand to other regions) Spring/Summer

7.) Quail Trapping - Individuals help trap urban quail and move them to rural areas (Central Region and could potentially expand to other regions) Winter

8.) Youth Chukar & Pheasant Hunts - Our volunteers are mainly in the Northern and Central Regions, but we hope to get volunteers to all regions in the near future Sept.
